Storage Little Ilford Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Storage Little Ilford to identify, prevent, and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a gross violation of fundamental human rights, and we are committed to conducting our business ethically and responsibly.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Little Ilford has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to every aspect of our operations, including the way we manage our facilities, engage with customers, and work with suppliers and contractors. We expect the same high standards from everyone we work with and do not knowingly engage with any organisation that is involved in, or connected to, modern slavery practices.
We are committed to acting with integrity, transparency, and fairness in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or our supply chains.
Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We undertake risk-based assessments of our operations and supply chains to identify where the risks of modern slavery may be higher. Factors considered include the nature of the goods and services supplied, the geographic location of suppliers, the use of temporary or agency labour, and the level of subcontracting involved.
Where higher risks are identified, we seek additional assurances from suppliers, including more detailed information about their own labour practices and supply chains, and we may prioritise these suppliers for further review or audits. We are committed to ongoing improvement in our risk assessment processes to better identify and address emerging risks.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers, contractors, and business partners to uphold standards consistent with our zero-tolerance policy. As part of our procurement and onboarding processes, we require suppliers to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour and human rights laws and that they do not tolerate forced labour, servitude, or human trafficking.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or assessments of key suppliers where appropriate. These reviews may include site visits, document checks, and discussions with management about working practices, recruitment methods, and worker protections. Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we expect suppliers to implement corrective actions within agreed timeframes. Continued non-compliance may result in the termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Storage Little Ilford encourages all employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery connected with our business or supply chains. Concerns may include indicators of forced labour, unreasonable recruitment fees, confiscation of identity documents, unsafe or degrading working conditions, or any form of coercion or exploitation.
Reports can be made through internal reporting channels or via management, with assurance that they will be handled sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. We do not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. All reports will be investigated promptly and appropriate action taken where necessary.
Training and Awareness
We recognise that raising awareness is essential to effectively combat modern slavery. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management, and supplier engagement, receive guidance on identifying the signs of modern slavery and on the correct procedures for escalating concerns. We aim to build understanding over time so that modern slavery risks are consistently considered in day-to-day decision-making.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by the leadership of Storage Little Ilford, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation, business operations, or identified risk. The review process assesses the effectiveness of our current measures, audits, training, and reporting mechanisms, and identifies areas where additional steps may be needed.
We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to tackling modern slavery. Over time, we intend to enhance our supplier engagement, expand training, refine risk assessment processes, and further embed respect for human rights into our organisational culture. This Statement has been approved for and on behalf of Storage Little Ilford and reflects our ongoing commitment to prevent modern slavery in all its forms.
